The Liberal Democrat Council has done a lot to improve Newport’s school buildings, and raise educational standards across the Borough.

Thank you to the hundreds of residents who responded to the street surveys The Network team were doing before Christmas.
We are addressing the issues raised by these surveys and will be replying to individuals on more specific problems.

Andrew Maric, local Newport Pagnell Campaigner has contacted the Citizen newspaper after being contacted by a resident about some dumped newspapers. This was a regular dumping ground and hopefully this round of newspapers will now be delivered to residents rather than the bushes!

Since taking control of Milton Keynes Council in 2002, the Liberal Democrats, with residents’ help, have consistently increased recycling rates in the Borough. This reduces the amount of waste going to landfill, which is taxed by the Government.

The local Liberal Democrats instigated the extension of the Conservation area in Newport Pagnell which now includes three historic buildings on the former Aston Martin site. This now means that they cannot be demolished without planning authorisation and permission!

The Tesco application for Newport Pagnell will be heard at the end of July 2009! After much controversy over the application’s Pros and Cons the Development Control Committee for Milton Keynes Council will hear MKC Planning officer’s report and what their recommendation for the application is.
